Eurydice by FreShPAiNt Eurydice by FreShPAiNt
I've been working on a few pieces for an alumni show at my college in October.

This is the first of three pieces based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. I've been a bit inspired by 1920's fashion, so I took a few elements of that, and incorporated them in the costuming idea.

I'll get into a larger explanation of why I chose that myth and my thoughts behind the piece once I have all three images completed and up. Anyway, I'm sure I'll keep picking at this one until the last possible minute.

I really love the palette choice in this piece; the contrasting warm and cool colors create just enough tension without overdoing it. It creates an atmosphere where this place may nearly fool you into being a peaceful place. I also love the thickness of her legs and the twist of her pelvis. What I would say, however, is that it appears that her top half and bottom half are working against each other a bit unnaturally. It would be unusual to have her back flat against the ground with her hips in the position they are.

That being said, the anatomy piecemeal is very well done, I love her neck, chin and shoulders, as well as her calves and thighs. Overall, I would say it is a beautiful piece and the composition is incredibly striking. Beautiful work!!
