Been exploring ideas for my world, and I figured starting with a generic worker would be a good start, as I was struggling with nailing down the main characters.
The arm gadget is used to infuse items with runes (there's a piece on the palm that stamps them in), which then makes the item serve different functions....like the engine of a car for example, but powered through magic. The dial has different combinations the worker can choose to create specific runes which all do different things. The workers can get 'magic poisoning' from unsafe working conditions, but I'm still working on exactly how I want that to look.
Maybe for the magic poisoning, something like blood poisoning? It would make sense for it to start near the most potent source of the magic.
