Been exploring ideas for my world, and I figured starting with a generic worker would be a good start, as I was struggling with nailing down the main characters.

The arm gadget is used to infuse items with runes (there's a piece on the palm that stamps them in), which then makes the item serve different functions....like the engine of a car for example, but powered through magic. The dial has different combinations the worker can choose to create specific runes which all do different things. The workers can get 'magic poisoning' from unsafe working conditions, but I'm still working on exactly how I want that to look.

One thing I love about your work is how much volume your figures and objects have. A lot of real weight and depth to them-- here, I specifically impressed by her hair of all things. You can tell it's thick, and makes a real shape.

Maybe for the magic poisoning, something like blood poisoning? It would make sense for it to start near the most potent source of the magic.

Also, I love her little breath-right strip there.

Oooh I like where this is going. The only issue is that it feels a bit generic. I love the magi-tech angle (always do) but have you given thought to what makes your world distinct and what stuff you want to cobble together from our world to make it really your own? I mean, I get she's a generic worker but even in that role there'd be something that makes the workers distinct from the upper classes. I'll keep coming back. Maybe I just need to see her juxtaposed with other characters.

yea, I have a vision for that, but its probably best seen in conjunction with other people. The world is supposed to be set in a 1930's-40s setting in terms of costuming appearances, and the other classes will have more ornate/frilly clothing. Even out of her work outfit, she would be wearing a dress or something with a bit more character. The point is that she *is* supposed to be fairly generic. =)
